Meteorology warns of heat wave sweeping desert areas

SANAA, July. 25 (YPA) – The National Center of Meteorology renewed on Tuesday its warnings to the a heat wave sweeping the desert and coastal areas of Yemen.

In its weather bulletin, the center affirmed that the maximum temperatures in the desert areas may reach between 40-45 Celsius, and between 32-42 C, on the coastal areas and the Socotra archipelago.

the center also warned fishermen and sea-goers of sea turbulence and high waves around the Socotra archipelago, the southern and eastern coasts, and the entrance to Bab al-Mandab.

It said that scattered showers to be expected on parts of the provinces of Mahweet, Raymah, Ibb, Taiz, Dhalea, Abyan and Lahj, Sanaa, Hajjah, Saada, Dhamar, as well as Bayda, Shabwa, Hadramout, and Mahra.
