Al-Qaeda militants attack STC’s sites in Abyan

ABYAN, July 22 (YPA) –  Al-Qaeda militants launched attacks on positions of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions in Abyan province, southern Yemen, well-informed sources said on Saturday.

According to the sources, Al-Qaeda attacked one of the sites of the STC’s factions in Al-Mahfad district.

The attack lasted for more than an hour, while casualties are still known, the sources said.

The governorates of Abyan and Shabwa have been witnessing active activities of al-Qaeda and continuous operations against the UAE-affiliated forces, the latest of which was the attack on a number of “Shabwa defense” sites with artillery shells last weekend.
