Pro-coalition parliamentarians attack suspicious deal with Emirati company

ADEN, July 18 (YPA) – A number of legislators loyal to the Saudi-led coalition criticized the pro-coalition government’s sale of Aden Net for Telecommunications to an Emirati cybersecurity firm, claiming that the agreement is harming Yemeni national security.

A group of 37 pro-coalition lawmakers rejected the sale of the so-called “Aden Net Communications Gate” and the establishment of a private communications company away from what they called “the Yemeni constitution and effective laws.”

“The approval of such agreements of a general nature affects the national economy and affects the security and sovereignty of the country,” the parliamentarians said in a letter they submitted on Tuesday to the president of the “leadership council” loyal to the coalition, Rashad al-Alimi.

They stressed that “the agreement is invalid” and demanded that it be canceled.

Pro-coalition officials accuse Al-Alimi, his son Khaled, prime minister, the telecommunications minister, and officials loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council of being involved in a suspicious deal targeting Yemeni communications at the UAE’s behest.

It is noteworthy that the pro-coalition government granted the Emirati company “NX Digital Technology” the right to acquire the assets of the “Aden Net Telecommunications” project, within a 70% partnership.
