Angry protests hit Mukalla

HADRAMOUT, July 13 (YPA) – The city of Mukalla in Hadramout governorate, on Wednesday witnessed angry popular protests against the rise in the dollar exchange rate, and the collapse of the local currency.

According to local sources, the demonstrators, who blocked a number of streets in the city of Mukalla, called on the government loyal to Saudi-led coalition to intervene to stop the deteriorating economic situation, and to work immediately to alleviate their suffering.

They also closed money exchange shops and blocked main streets with stones and burned tires, in a protest to the collapse of the currency and power outages for long hours.

These protests come in conjunction with massive popular demonstrations in the cities of Aden, Abyan, Lahj and other southern cities under the occupation authority, condemning the collapse of the economic living and security conditions, the collapse of the local currency, power outages and the continued disregard of the pro-coalition government for the suffering of citizens.

The protests come amid a terrifying collapse in living and security conditions in areas controlled by coalition factions, at a time when the pro-coalition government refuses to find any solutions to address complex crises.
