Tribal gunmen cut off main roads in front of flow of terrorist elements in Abyan

ABYAN, July. 10 (YPA) – Several tribal gunmen loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias cut off the most important main roads in front of the flow of reinforcements for terrorist elements in Abyan province, southern Yemen.

Local sources said that the tribal gunmen blocked the main road in Jayshan district to limit the flow of reinforcements of terrorist elements coming from Shabwa province to Mudiyah district of Abyan.

The sources affirmed that tribal support to the STC would limit the terrorist operations targeting the STC’s factions in Mudiyah and Wadi Omran with explosive devices by pro-Islah elements.

The attacks of the terrorist elements left nearly 80 dead and wounded members of the STC in the provinces of Abyan and Shabwa, including 22 dead and 31 injured in Abyan, and 6 dead and 21 wounded, including prominent leaders, in Shabwa from January to June 21.

The Sanaa forces were able to carry out successful military operations against the terrorist elements, who were taking the Qifah Rada’a area of Bayda as their stronghold, which led to expelling them to Shabwa and Abyan, Marib in August 2020.
