MAGADISHU, July 09 (YPA) – More than 40 fighters of the terrorist “Al-Shabaab” movement were killed on Sunday in an air and ground attack launched by the Somali National Army, with international support, in the town of Wilmaru, 40 kilometers from Afmadow in the Lower Juba region of Somalia.
The attack, which took place at dawn today, targeted a hideout in which terrorists gather and a weapons depot belonging to the “Al-Shabaab” movement, and resulted in the killing of the leaders of those elements, according to the Somali National News Agency, “SONNA.”
The agency indicated that “the Somali National Army forces, with the support of air strikes from international partners, managed to completely destroy the hideout and warehouse, as well as killing more than 40 militants, including several high-ranking leaders.”
The Somali Ministry of Defense confirmed the attack, which took place at dawn on Sunday, to the Somali National News Agency, noting that at least 40 members of the movement were killed.
