“Al-Qaeda” controls new sites in Abyan

ABYAN, June 26 (YPA) – Al-Qaeda organization elements launched on Sunday night a large-scale military attack against the positions of the armed factions loyal to the UAE in Abyan province, southern Yemen.

This is the third attack carried out by al-Qaeda in Abyan province in less than a week.

According to local and international media, al-Qaeda militants took control of new sites in Omran Valley, east of Modiya district, after fierce battles between the two sides that lasted for hours.

Al-Qaeda used drones in the attack, and the pro-UAE recruits suffered heavy losses in lives and equipment, according to the media.

Al-Qaeda continues its escalation against the armed elements of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in response to the “Siham Al-Sharq” operation the latter launched against the terrorist organization in Abyan.
