President receives UN envoy to Yemen
SANAA, July 3 (YPA) –President of the Supreme Political Council, Mehdi al-Mushat, on Tuesday received the special envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen Martin Griffith.
During the meeting, President and UN envoy discussed the bad humanitarian situation as a result of the escalation of the coalition and siege imposed on the Yemeni people for the fourth year and the efforts of the United Nations and organizations to alleviate the worsening situation.
The meeting touched on the efforts of the Special Envoy towards resuming negotiations to bring peace, stop the aggression and lift the siege.
President expressed his hope that Martin Griffith would not slip into what his predecessor, Ould Sheikh, had slipped into prolonging the conflict under the cover of the United Nations.
Mr. President stressed on the parties of negotiation must be known parties on the Yemeni arena to avoid entering a new labyrinth of obstacles that do not end.
President also stressed on the support of the efforts of the envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to alleviate the humanitarian catastrophe caused by the aggression and the siege and to achieve a just and honorable peace for the Yemeni people.
In his part, the UN envoy touched to his current efforts towards the peace process and to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.
