Aden airport witnesses suspicious movements

ADEN, June 16 (YPA) – Aden airport in southern Yemen on Thursday has witnessed a mass departure of relatives of officials from the government loyal to Saudi-led coalition, informed sources.

According to the sources, the airport officers prevented the search and checking of the bags of the relatives of officials under the pretext that they “hold diplomatic passports,” and the justification that “the bags are personal belongings that may not be checked !”

The sources said that there are widespread suspicions among workers at the airport, that the bags that went out without inspection, carry huge amounts of hard currency that are smuggled abroad through Aden airport.

The sources said that the people of Aden exchange talks about officials smuggling the amounts that were stored in their homes, which they did not put in banks, for fear of being exposed to any issue by international organizations.

The sources added that the departures by relatives of officials have witnessed remarkable activity since the escalation of signs of a complete economic collapse in the pro-coalition government.

For his part, a member of the Supreme National Anti-Corruption Commission (SNACC) in Aden, Dr. Abdullah Mubarak Al-Ghaithi, wondered in a tweet on Twitter:  “Will every official be allowed to go with everything he had stolen?”.

On Sunday, the head of the pro-coalition government, Moeen Abdulmalik, had revealed to the ambassadors of the countries, that the Yemeni areas under the control of the coalition are on the verge of an imminent economic collapse.
