ABYAN, June 07 (YPA) – Tribal gunmen cut off the road linking the province of Abyan and Aden, south of Yemen, which are under the control of the coalition’s factions in southern Yemen.
Local sources said that the militants of the Ba Kazim tribe in Al-Mahfad area blocked the road in protest against the arrest of an officer, Mohammed Khaled Al-Jaradi Al-Kazmi, one of the tribe’s sons, by the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias in Aden city.
The sources indicated that the gunmen prevented also the passage of trucks, as well as to gas and oil tankers until the detainee Al-Kazmi be released, threatening the STC with an escalation.
Violations by the STC factions against Abyan tribes have increased, whether in Aden or in the districts under their control in the province, since the confrontations led by the Minister of Interior in the coalition-backed government, Ahmed al-Maysari, in August 2019.
