HADRAMOUT, May 31 (YPA) – A frightening pandemic has spread in the city of Seiyun, the center of the oil-rich Hadramout province, recording thousands of cases among the people during the past days.
The director of the health care department in Wadi Hadramout, Ghazi Bashamekh, said in a press statement circulated by media outlets affiliated with Saudi-led coalition that Seiyun General Hospital and health centers in the city received more than 5,000 cases of fever in the city of Seiyun alone.
He pointed out that this spread is due to mosquitoes and harmful insects that are found in water marshes, basins and loose sewers in the streets.
According to the sources, dengue fever and malaria are killing citizens, and hundreds of cases are lying in their homes unable to reach health facilities due to their difficult living conditions.
“Health facilities have very limited operational capacity as many cases had arrived during the past days, the sources said, adding that pro-coalition authorities had not taken any necessary preventive measures to limit the aggravation of the health disaster due to negligence by the pro-coalition government.
The sources stated that the pandemic poses a real threat to the health security of the people in the districts of Wadi Hadramout, attributing the spread of the pandemic to the accumulation of waste in various residential neighborhoods in the city.
