WORLD, May 28 (YPA) – Polling stations in Turkey have opened for voters in the second round of presidential election runoff, which are being fought by with incumbent head of state Recep Tayyip Erdogan and opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu vying for the nation’s highest office.
The presidential candidates concluded the election campaigns on Saturday evening, and the electoral silence that continues until Sunday evening began.
More than 191,000 ballot boxes have been prepared in 973 regions and 1,094 electoral councils across the country.
About 61 million voters are eligible to vote inside the country, and about 3,500,000 voters outside the country.
In the first round, which took place on 14 this month, Erdogan received 49.52%, while Kilicdaroglu received 44.88%, while the third candidate in the elections, Sinan Ogan, received 5.17% of the votes.
The participation rate in the first round of the elections reached about 89%, and observers expect the participation rate in the run-off on Sunday to be also high.
