Several Yemeni political leaders to announce new political bloc in Cairo

ADEN, May 27 (YPA) – A number of political leaders and figures from the south and east of Yemen has moved to announce a new political bloc, against the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).

Political sources familiar with the matter in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, said that arrangements running to announce a political bloc that includes various components and political and military forces from the people of the provinces of Abyan and Shabwa and the eastern areas of Yemen.

The sources stated that the political bloc to be announced in the coming weeks includes a number of influential political leaders , including the former president, Ali Nasser Mohammad, Muhammad Ali Ahmed, Ahmed Obaid bin Daghr, Ahmed Al-Maysari, Mohammad Saleh bin Adio, Saleh Al-Jabwani, Fouad Rashid, Ahmed Saleh Al-Eisi” and others.

The sources suggested that Major Generals Mahmoud al-Subaihi and Faisal Rajab would join the political component, which will be established under the name of the “National Rescue Component.”

This came after about 17 of the southern and eastern forces and components of Yemen announced their boycott of the consultative meeting held by the STC on the fourth of May in the city of Aden.

Political observers expected that the new component would be a severe political blow to the STC, which authorized itself alone to represent the southern issue according to the outcomes of the meeting in Aden.

This came in the midst of the ongoing conflict between the Saudi-UAE coalition forces in southern and eastern Yemen, preparations are underway to impose a new political bloc, which many observers suggest would play an important role in resolving the existing rivalry in the Yemeni areas controlled by the coalition.
