ADEN, May 21 (YPA) – Head of the Supreme Council for the Southern Revolutionary Movement, Fouad Rashid, warned against a possible economic crisis in the city of Aden and the rest of the southern provinces.
Rashid affirmed in a statement that the rise of the domestic price of the foreign currency in Aden and the southern province will be reflected in the various basic commodities.
He accused the coalition-backed Aden government of corruption and indifference in taking any measures to confront the new wave of price hikes.
Rashid attributed “the lack of services, high prices, and the collapse of the local currency to the rampant corruption among the government,” which enjoys the approval of the coalition and the political forces involved in its formation,” referring to the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council.”
This came after the price of the US dollar jumped from 1200 Yemeni riyals to 1295 during the past days, amid expectations that the rise will affect food prices in the coalition-held areas.
