SANAA, May 20 (YPA) – The Ministry of Water and Environment discussed on Saturday in Sanaa with UNICEF cooperation and coordination to support the water and environmental sanitation sectors.
This came during a meeting held in Sanaa, chaired by Deputy Minister of Water and Environment, Honein Al-Duraib, and attended by Omar Al-Hattab, the Water and Environmental Sanitation Consultant at UNICEF’s main office in New York.
The meeting touched on the procedures for providing fuel support to water and sanitation institutions, such as implementing alternative energy projects to operate water pumping stations and sewage treatment, as well as the possibility of raising the ceiling of UNICEF support for sanitation projects in urban cities and rural areas.
They also focused on establishing rainwater collection ponds to feed and preserve groundwater and rainwater harvesting projects and UNICEF’s interventions in rehabilitating the facilities of the Ministry of Water and Environment and restoring the infrastructure that was targeted by the Saudi-led coalition warplanes.
