Yemeni riyal hits new low against foreign currencies in southern provinces

SANAA, May 18 (YPA) – The Yemeni riyal’s devaluation rate has increased yet again, resulting in a record drop in financial transactions in provinces controlled by the Saudi-led coalition on Thursday.

The US dollar exchange rate in the southern province of Aden amounted to 1,298 riyals, while the Saudi riyal exchange rate reached 345 riyals.

In Sanaa, the Yemeni riyal remained stable at 532 riyals per dollar and 141 riyals per Saudi riyal as a consequence of a series of steps implemented by the Sanaa government last year to ensure currency stability.
