WORLD, May 16 (YPA) -Sinan Ogan, Turkey’s nationalist presidential candidate, said he could support Kemal Kilicdaroglu in the run-off unless concessions were made to the pro-Kurdish party.
Ogan denied what was reported by the German magazine “Der Spiegel” that he conditioned Kilicdaroglu’s support in the second round to abandon the Kurds.
“No, Der Spiegel, in the interview I gave you, I didn’t say anything different from the general conditions we told the Turkish press. Where did you get this from?”
“I could support Kilicdaroglu in the second round if he does not make any concessions to the HDP,” he said.
“The opposition alliance was not able to convince voters that Turkey’s problems could be solved,” Ogan said, adding that “the return of refugees is a red line and a prerequisite for supporting Erdogan or Kilicdaroglu.”
Turkey headed for a second round of presidential elections after any of the three candidates, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kilicdaroglu, and Sinan Ogan Ancestral Alliance candidate, failed to get 50% + 1 of the votes.
The second round will be between Erdogan and Kilicdaroglu, who received the highest percentage of votes.
