Clashes break out between STC militia, tribes in Lahj

LAHJ, May 15 (YPA) –  Casualties have been reported as result of armed clashes broke out between the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’ militia and tribes in Lahj governorate.

According to sources, a reconnaissance drone run by the STC’s emergency forces was conducting on a surveillance mission over the house of Sheikh Ali Obaid al-A’ezaibi in the Sabr area of the Tuban district, before his guards were able to shoot it down.

Following the shooting down of the drone, and two military pickup vehicles belonging to the commander of the emergency force in Lahj Ahmed al-Lahaji al-A’war attacked the house and violent clashes erupted, the sources explained

They added that the clashes led to the death of Al-Awar and the injury of others before his military vehicles withdrew.

Sources pointed out that Al-Awar asked for reinforcements from the Fifth Brigade, to storm Al-A’ezaibi’s house, to renew the clashes stronger.

The clashes also left wounded of both sides, including civilians, one of the sources said, added that the wounded were taken to Ibn Khaldun Hospital.
