WORLD, May 07 (YPA) – A 17-year-old girl was killed and five others injured in a drive-by shooting following a large house party in California early Saturday, police said.
According to Chico Police Chief Billy Aldridge, officers were initially sent to a large party on Columbus Street, a few blocks from the California State University campus in Chico, after reports that an attendee fired several shots from a firearm.
Police discovered that a fight had taken place at the party and asked the suspect to leave before police arrived, he said.
He explained that two people were taken to hospital after reports of physical assault.
At 3 a.m. local time, police were called to another party on Columbus Street, where someone was reportedly waving a gun.
An individual matched the description of a suspect from a separate incident that occurred several hours earlier at another house party in Chico, Aldridge said.
Less than half an hour later, the police were called back to the Columbus Street party where it turned out that six people had been injured, and one of the victims died.
