ABYAN, April 27 (YPA) – A leader in the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia was killed on Thursday in Abyan province, south of Yemen.
According to local sources in the province, Fawzi Shayef al-Bakri al-Radfani, a commander of the so-called Third Battalion Abyan Delta Belt, was killed when an explosive device exploded in his military vehicle in al-Baqira area of Mudiyah district.
The sources added that two of al-Radfani’s bodyguards were injured in the explosion, which left material damage to the military vehicle.
The STC militia accused al-Qaeda elements of being behind the assassination of Radfani leader.
The explosive devices have killed dozens of militia’s leaders in the districts of Mudiyah, Ahwar, Mahfad and Lawdar, since they announced the so-called “arrows of the East” military operation last August.
