Russian Deputy Foreign Minister: US leaks may be intended to ‘deceive’ Russia

WORLD, April 12 (YPA) – Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov did not rule out that the leaking of classified US documents could be a fraudulent and deliberate stuffing, TASS Russian News Agency reported.

According to the diplomat, the publications may deliberately mislead Russia.

“We don’t have a position, if these are documents, it’s probably interesting for someone to see these documents, or maybe it’s fake, maybe this is targeted padding,” Ryabkov said.

“Since the US is a party to the (Ukraine) conflict and is essentially waging a hybrid war against us, it is possible that such techniques are being used to deceive their opponent, the Russian Federation,” Ryabkov added.

He continued: “Perhaps specialists are more aware of the veracity of what was published, and its compatibility with reality, and there have been leaks in the past, in which original documents appeared that were made available to the general public.”

Ryabkov concluded that the current uproar over the leaked US documents, their authenticity and credibility, and the motives for making them available to the general public, remain open questions.
