ADEN, March 27 (YPA) – The pro-UAE Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias revealed on Monday the reasons of Sagheer bin Aziz, Chief of Staff of the coalition-backed government, to try to escape Marib city.
The Aden-based daily Al-Umana’a newspaper, affiliated with the STC, quoted sources in the council as saying that disputes between Bin Aziz and the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood” Party escalated following Bin Aziz’s decision to dismantle the Islah military system in Marib, known as the “National Army”.
The sources noted that Bin Aziz decided to form popular committees to protect the city of Marib rather than the party’s military factions.
This coincided with Saudi attempts to secure the residence of Bin Aziz in Aden city, south of Yemen.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia had evacuated Bin Aziz from Marib before securing his stability in Aden.
It has been yet clear whether the STC’s leaks reflected the reality of a crisis between Bin Aziz and Islah Party, in which the two sides have been allied for years.
