Saudi forces deploy armed factions to deter STC in Aden

ADEN, March 05 (YPA) – A leadership of the Saudi forces redeployed on Sunday the so-called “Presidential Protection Brigades” loyal to the Islah Party, in the city of Aden, south of Yemen.

Southern military sources said the Saudi step came in in preparation to confront the “UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia in the province.

The sources confirmed that the “Presidential Protection Brigades”, which were expelled from Aden by the STC’s militia in August 2019, imposed control over new military sites in the coastal Shukra in Abyan province, located on the Arabian Sea, in an order by the commander of the “support and attribution” in the Saudi forces, Sultan Al-Bogami, after his visit to Mocha of Taiz, Aden, and Abyan during the past two days.

The sources suggested that the “Presidential Protection Brigades” located in Shukra would be returned to the city of Aden, in an attempt to implement the so-called “Riyadh Agreement” signed between the coalition-backed government and the STC, in early November 2019, after the STC militias took control of Aden and the city of Zanzibar, the center of Abyan.

The sources reported that Saudi Arabia seeking to strengthen its grip on the southern province of Yemen, after the so-called “Southern Resistance” declared last week refusing Rashad al-Alimi’s return to Aden, and deploying armed teams in the vicinity of Aden airport.
