BEIJING, Feb. 27 (YPA) – The Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed on Monday that the United States has no right to provide instructions to Russia and China on how to develop their bilateral relations, and that Beijing will not accept pressure from Washington.
“The United States has no right to act in Russian-Chinese relations, and we will not accept pressure and threats from the American side,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Mao Ning, said in a press briefing, commenting on the warnings made by a number of US officials to Beijing about the consequences of its possible supply of weapons to Russia.
Mao pointed out that the United States is not only sending deadly weapons to the battlefield in Ukraine, but also violating the terms of three Sino-US joint memorandums by continuing to sell advanced weapons to Taiwan.
The Chinese official added that Beijing is actively promoting peace talks and finding a political solution to the Ukrainian crisis.
She stated that China lodged a strong protest against US sanctions against Chinese companies “for its relations with Russia,” noting that the United States publishes false information about “Chinese arms supplies to Russia” as a pretext to impose sanctions on Chinese companies.
“We will take strong countermeasures in response to the unjustified US sanctions against Chinese companies,” she said.
Earlier, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said that China should decide for itself whether to help Russia in the conflict in Ukraine, taking into account the “tangible costs” to Beijing if it did.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken earlier warned Beijing of the consequences of supplying arms to Moscow.
