Attorney General orders release of 350 prisoners in Hodeida

HODEIDA, Feb. 25 (YPA) – The Attorney General, Judge Dr. Muhammad Al-Dailami, ordered the release of 350 prisoners in the remand prison in Hodeida province on Saturday.

This came during his field visit to the prison, accompanied by heads and deputy prosecutors, and the Director of Research, Security and Intelligence in Hodeida, to inspect the conditions of prisons and detention centers, in implementation of the directives of the Leader of the Revolution and the President of the Supreme Political Council.

The Public Prosecutor emphasized the assistance of prisoners before the month of Ramadan by releasing those sentenced to custodial sentences after half the term had passed in non-serious cases and two-thirds of the term in serious cases, as well as the defendants in non-serious cases that are still under investigation and have no precedents.

Judge Al-Dailami referred to the cases of insolvent prisoners and directed the Zakat Authority to help them pay dues they were unable to pay to others, and for which they are still in prison despite the expiry of the prison sentence.
