UAE militia forcibly displaces against Mudiyah people in Abyan

ABYAN, Feb. 09 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia displaced on Thursday the people of Mudiyah district in Abyan province, by force of arms.

Human rights sources reported that the STC militia broke into homes and displaced the people of the village of al-Baqira and its neighboring villages, east of Mudiyah, belonging to the Fahtan tribes, after killing two leaders of the militia and wounding four others from Radfan, last Tuesday at the entrance to Wadi Omran in the province.

The sources indicated that the people left their homes forcibly, moving women and children and some of their property to some areas within the district and the rest of the other districts.

The STC militia has been waging a war of attrition and putting in the quagmire of regional war, since the announcement of the so-called “Arms of the East” operation, which subsequently took control of the Islah camps in Shuqra, Ahwar, and the rest of the areas of Abyan at the end of last August, amid accusations of tribesmen belonging to al-Qaeda and harboring terrorist elements.
