Rockslide hits residential area of Mahweet

MAHWEET, Feb. 06 (YPA) – A rockslide hit on Monday Al-Ahjoul area of Al-Ahjar isolation in Shibam district of Mahweet province.

An official source in the Civil Defense Authority branch in the province, accompanied by the security director of the Shibam district, moved to the area to see and inspect large rock blocks collapsed to the road and the vicinity of some nearby houses in the area.

The source affirmed that the rockslide was due to the cracking of the chain of rocky blocks and the cracking of most of the particles of the giant rocky blocks as a result of natural factors.

The sources pointed out that there are giant rock blocks overlooking Al-Ahjoul area that are about to fall and pose a serious threat to lives and property, especially during the upcoming rainy season in the near future.

In turn, the citizens of Al-Ahjoul area appealed to the relevant authorities to quickly intervene and protect them from the danger of the rockslide and the continuous fall of rocks in their area.
