TEHRAN, Jan. 31 (YPA) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani on Monday criticized the “unconstructive approach” by the French president towards free speech.
“Unfortunately, France, under the pretext of defending free speech, considers Muslims’ reaction to the desecration of their religious beliefs as an attack against secularism. But it has forgotten that countering criticism of the Zionist regime is itself a kind of violation of the free speech,” Nasser Kanaani said in a statement.
He also expressed regret that some European officials are using human rights issues as a tool for political games to interfere in internal affairs of other countries.
Kanaani called that approach destructive and condemned it.
In addition, the Iranian foreign ministry spokesman criticized the countries, which claim to be defending human rights, for supporting and hosting terrorist groups but remaining silent on the daily killing of the Palestinians by “the child-killing Zionist regime”.
“Those states who claim to be human rights defenders are complicit in blatant violations of human rights, ” he stated.
