Sanaa holds coalition responsible for repercussions of militarizing fish landing centers

SANAA, Jan. 25 (YPA) – Ministry of Fisheries held the Saudi-led coalition forces responsible for the consequences of the ongoing violations against fishermen and the conversion of fish landing centers into military barracks.

The ministry warned of the repercussions of targeting international and regional maritime security as a result of turning the fish landing centers in the areas of Al-Koud in Abyan, Qishn in Mahra, Al-Nashmiyya in Shabwa, to military barracks belonging to the American and British occupation forces.

The ministry said in news conference that the total violations suffered by Yemeni fishermen in the Red Sea had amounted to 577 violations, including the bombing of 53 fishing areas and headquarters, which led to killing and wounded over 484 fishermen, as well as and 2054 cases of kidnapping were recorded at sea.

The statement indicated that the total losses of the fish sector in the Red Sea since the coalition forces’ war on Yemen began in 2015, have been amounted to 12 billion and 649 million dollars.

It called on the free people of the world and advocates of human rights to consider human principles and values in dealing seriously with the issue of Yemeni fishermen, its grievances and its usurped rights.
