Rural Water Projects Authority discusses with UNICEF its plan for next two years

SANAA, Jan. 11 (YPA) – The General Authority for Rural Water Projects on Wednesday discussed the authority’s plan submitted to UNICEF for the years 1444-2023 and 1445-2024.

During the meeting, chaired by the Authority’s head, Adel Saleh Bader, and attended by the UNICEF water specialist, Maysoon Al-Hajj, the Authority’s interim strategy 1444-1447 AH and the sanitation projects it included were reviewed, in line with the national vision for building the state.

The meeting reviewed water projects funded by UNICEF, work priorities, targeting criteria, digital map projects, institutional building, capacity development, restoration, repair and rehabilitation works, and completing the infrastructure of the authority’s branches in the provinces.

At the meeting, Bader confirmed the authority’s keenness to strengthen partnership with UNICEF to implement rural water projects and meet the population’s needs for water services.

He explained that the authority has prepared the interim strategy 1444-1447 AH, which includes the implementation of more than 1,700 water projects in 14 provinces.

For her part, Al-Hajj indicated that UNICEF is ready to support the authority and its branches in the provinces to implement projects according to the available capabilities and the plan provided by the authority.

She urged the authority to benefit from the funds to raise the percentage of water coverage, find alternative sources of electric energy, build capacities, institutional building, climate change, and establish a database, in addition to the water and environmental sanitation emergency plan.
