Russia: 20,000 soldiers will be deployed to provide air defense and missile defense in Moscow on holidays

MOSCOW, Dec. 31 (YPA) – A source in the Russian Ministry of Defense said that about 20,000 soldiers will be involved in the provision of air and missile defense (air defense-missile defense) of Moscow during the holidays.

“About 20 thousand military personnel affiliated to the Aerospace Forces Air Defense and Missile Defense Association will be on combat duty for air defense,” the source said in a statement.

“More than 1,800 soldiers of the 1st Air Defense and Missile Defense Special Purpose Army of the Russian Aerospace Forces will begin combat duty at the beginning of the year,” the source elaborated

According to open sources, the 1st Air Defense and Missile Defense Army is performing tasks to protect the Russian capital from air attack weapons and ballistic missiles. The compound includes, in particular, silo launchers of anti-missiles designed to destroy the warheads of ICBMs.
