Al-Bahsani stresses need to dismantle STC’s militia

HADRAMOUT, Dec. 20 (YPA) – Member of the Riyadh-formed Presidential Council, Major General Faraj al-Bahsani, on Thursday stressed  the need to dismantle the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC ) militia, the most prominent opponent in southern Yemen.

This came during a meeting with the security and military committee tasked with integrating the rival factions affiliated with the Saudi-led coalition in southern and eastern Yemen.

The meeting was chaired by Al-Bahsani.

Media reported that al-Bahsani called on the committee to end the division in the ranks of these factions and re-establish them according to national foundations.

Al-Bahsani’s demand comes amid tension in Hadramout his most prominent stronghold, following the STC’s attempt to blow up the situation militarily there.

Activists described the meeting as a message from the presidency to the STC that there is no retreat from the decision to dismantle its factions.
