Serbs start removing barricades in Kosovo

WORLD, Dec. 29 (YPA) – Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic said late Wednesday that Serbs will start removing their barricades in Kosovo on Thursday morning.

This came after he met Serbs from northern Kosovo in the Serbian town of Raska.

“It is a long process and it will take a while,” Vucic said.

Vucic had earlier announced that Serbia had received security guarantees from the United States and the European Union, and that the Pristina authorities had begun releasing residents detained during protests against the policies of the Kosovo Albanian government.

Serb residents have been blocking roads in the province of Kosovo for 19 days in  protest against the arrest of a former police officer by the Kosovo authorities.
