SANAA, Dec. 26 (YPA) – 17 people were killed and more than 90 injured as heavy snowfall continued in large areas of Japan and led to power outages for hundreds of homes, in a new toll of the aftermath of the blizzard in the country.
Japanese local media reported on Monday that it has been snowing heavily in the northern regions of Japan since last week, which led to hundreds of cars being stranded on highways, delays in delivery services, and the death of 17 people and the injury of 93 others by this morning.
Japan’s fire and disaster agency said most of the victims died while clearing snow from the roofs of houses, or were buried under dense piles of snow that were sliding off the roofs.
