Abdul-Salam reveals fruitful results with Omani delegation on peace in Yemen

SANAA, Dec. 25 (YPA) – Head of the Sanaa negating delegation, Mohammed Abdul-Salam, revealed the fruitful results with the Omani delegation in Sanaa.

He said in a news statement that the delegation’s meetings with the leader of the revolution, Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, President of the Supreme Political Council, Mahdi al-Mashat, and the Chief of the General Staff, Major General Mohammad al-Ghamari, were fruitful and presented perceptions of the ideas presented in the negotiations.

“Since the end of the armistice, we have held intensive discussions with several parties, including direct meetings with the Saudi side and the United Nations in Muscat,” he stated.

Abdul-Salam stressed that the Sanaa forces on the field imposed new rules of engagement, and the other side must realize the fact that we have entered a new phase.

“Sanaa has no obligation regarding the cease-fire, but there are respectable efforts made by the brothers in Amman in parallel with discussing ideas to achieve progress,” he explained.

Abdul-Salam noted that any economic measures targeting the situation in Yemen would turn the tables, noting that “the brothers from the Sultanate of Oman heard clear words from the leader, Abdulmalik al-Houthi.”

He affirmed that oil and gas exports should go to the interest of paying salaries to all employees from all provinces without exception.

“Talking about a permanent ceasefire must be met with the lifting of siege, the permanent payment of salaries, and the exit of the occupier,” clarified Abdul-Salam, emphasizing that it is not possible to go to political dialogue in light of a complex and thorny atmosphere and humanitarian and economic crises.

The head of delegation indicated that the humanitarian file, of which the payment of salaries in accordance with the 2014 oil and gas budget, is still Sanaa’s priorities in the negotiations.
