US former police officer jailed for 3 1/2 years over George Floyd murder case

WORLD, Dec. 10 (YPA) – A US court has sentenced former police officer Alexander Koenig who helped restrain the murderer of George Floyd, to 3 1/2 years in prison for his role in the killing, ABC TV reported.

According to ABC, Alexander Koenig pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting manslaughter the day his trial was set to begin in the state last October, and accepted the plea in exchange for the state dropping the charge of aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter in May. 25, 2020, death sparks international protests against police brutality.

“Alexander Koenig will serve two simultaneous sentences, and was sentenced to three years in prison in July on “federal charges related to the murder of Floyd,” according to Reuters.
