Iran’s President: The great capacity of Islam in Russia paves the way for strengthening joint cooperation
TEHRAN, Dec. 10 (YPA) – President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi has underlined that the unique capacity of Islam and other religions in the civilized country of Russia promises more cooperation in the brilliant future.
This came in his message to the congress of Russian Muslims on the occasion of commemorating the 1100th year of the presence of Islam in Russia on Friday.
Pointing to the fact that Russia is one of the first distant points, in which Islam was promoted, President Raisi said that the Iranian Muslims are proud that the historical city of Derbent in Russia, which was the entrance of Islam to Russia, is the hub for the convergence of Russian, Iranian and Islamic cultures.
The massive presence of the Muslim community, including Shia and Sunni Muslims, in Russia, has turned the country into the largest state among non-Islamic nations with the greatest number of Muslim communities, the president noted.
Raisi expressed gratitude to the organizers of the congress on the 1100th year of the presence of Islam in Russia.
