SANAA, Dec. 07 (YPA) – The Moroccan coast guard authority in the city of Ceuta announced recovery of the body of Dr. Daifallah Al-Thaifani, a Yemeni migrant who tried to swim towards the Spanish coast.
A Moroccan government official said that “a 48-year-old Yemeni migrant drowned while trying to swim towards the border coasts between Morocco and Spain, explaining that the migrant, who was wearing a neoprene suit to protect himself from the low sea temperature, tried to swim around Benzo border breakwater but died from suffocation by immersion”.
He added that the body, which was carrying documents, was found at 9:30 a.m. on Monday in a rocky area near the pier that separates the northern border of Benzo from Morocco.
The body was taken to the municipal funeral home for an autopsy, after which some work will begin to try to locate his relatives, he added.
