WORLD, Dec. 07 (YPA) – The US level of support for Ukraine has declined, and 47% are demanding Kiev to be pushed towards negotiations, according to a research report by The Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
“About half of Americans (47 percent, up from 38 percent in July) believe Washington should push the Kiev authorities toward a peaceful settlement to end the conflict as soon as possible,” the report said.
The report also stated that 29% of those surveyed believe that the United States should withdraw its financial and military support to Ukraine entirely. At the same time, 27% believe Washington should send troops to intervene in the conflict.
Since July, the number of Americans who believe Ukraine should be supported “for as long as possible” has fallen from 58 percent to 48 percent.
Among Republicans, support for Ukraine has dwindled further. According to the center’s data, the percentage of Republicans supporting Ukraine’s active military finance has fallen from 80 percent to 55 percent since May, and the number of supporters of aid has fallen from 74 percent to 50 percent.
