Russian SA-8B Osa-AKM air defenses destroy about 5 Ukrainian targets per day

MOSCOW, Dec. 05 (YPA) – Russian SA-8B Osa-AKM air defense missile systems destroyed 5 Ukrainian air targets per day in the area of the special military operation, a source in the Country Ministry of Defense said.

The source pointed out that the majority of these targets are from drones that carry out aerial reconnaissance.

He added: “Thanks to their design features, these systems can cross water obstacles by themselves without the need to establish floating crossings. Each system is equipped with a radar station that allows it to detect hostile targets, especially drones that attempt to conduct aerial reconnaissance of the areas of deployment of attack units and defensive positions of the Russian armed forces, and then destroy them.”

The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that the crews of the “Osa-AKM”  air defense systems were able to carry out a total of more than 200 successful launches during the special military operation.

The Russian military asserted that the main task of these systems is to destroy various types of aircraft, helicopters and drones. Currently, these systems have shown their ability to destroy small targets well.
