Truck drivers strike due to STC militia levies in Mukalla

HADRAMOUT, Dec. 01 (YPA) – The strike of truck drivers continues on Thursday in the city of Mukalla, the capital of Hadramout province, for the second day in a row, due to the levies and royalties imposed on them.

Local sources reported that the drivers of the “big dump trucks” announced the general strike due to the increase in the levies imposed on them in the “Harro” balance, by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia.

The sources confirmed that the militia elements force the drivers to pay exorbitant sums of money, which causes them great losses, without allowing the transportation fees to be increased by 100% for transportation materials “sand and stones”.

The drivers’ strike is the second since last August, without an end to the levies imposed on them, and without any improvement of the roads.
