Sanaa announces self-sufficiency in production of potato seeds

SANAA, Nov. 22 (YPA) – The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation in Sanaa announced on Tuesday that Yemen has achieved the self-sufficiency in the production of potato seeds that fully cover the needs of the local market.

In a statement issued today, the ministry reaffirmed the ban on importing potato seeds from abroad.

The statement indicated that the General Company for Potato Seeds Production was able, in recent years, to expand its activities in the field of potato seed production, reaching the stage of self-sufficiency, and produced new and diverse varieties of high quality and in very large quantities to cover the local market.
