ALGERIA, Nov. 01 (YPA) – Media sources reported on Monday that Algeria would sign a huge contract with Russia to supply weapons worth between 12-17 billion dollars.
The “Africa Intelligence” newspaper said that negotiations are now underway on concluding a framework agreement on Russian military supplies to Algeria for the next ten years.
The “Russia Today” website, quoting the newspaper, stated that the signing of the agreement will take place during the official visit of Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to Moscow next December.
This comes at a time when the Algerian military budget (according to the 2023 Finance Bill) could increase by 130 percent, to $22.6 billion, which would make it the largest military budget in Africa.
