Zakat Authority organizes largest collective wedding in region for over 10,000 brides, grooms in Sanaa
SANAA, Oct. 31 (YPA) – The capital, Sanaa, witnessed on Monday the third and largest collective wedding in the region, which was organized by the General Authority for Zakat, for 10,044 brides and grooms from the capital and the rest of the Yemeni province.
At the ceremony, which was attended by members of the Supreme Political Council and senior state officials, the Mufti of Yemen, the scholar Shams Al-Din Sharaf Al-Din, congratulated the newlyweds for celebrating their wedding on this joyful day.
He called on the effectual people, the local authorities, sheikhs and social figures to seek to find pacts and contracts to curb the exaggerated dowries.
The Mufti of Yemen praised the role of the General Authority for Zakat, and everyone who participated and contributed to supporting this charitable and humanitarian social project.
In the mass celebration, Head of the General Authority for Zakat, Sheikh Shamsan Abu Nashtan, congratulated the newlyweds on their wedding.
“Yemen had not witnessed such collective weddings in its history, which was a dream, and Allah wrote its realization under exceptional circumstances that Yemen is experiencing as a result of the aggression and siege,” Abu Nashtan said.
He explained that the collective wedding festival, which is repeated for the third year with this momentum, aimed to fortify a group of Yemeni youth with marriage under the patronage and support of the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, the president and members of the Supreme Political Council, and the president and members of the Salvation Government.
Abu Nashtan urged the grooms to be at the level of responsibility to build a cohesive and productive family in society that serves the country.
Head of the Zakat Authority noted this collective wedding is one of 17 projects launched by the authority on the occasion of the Prophet’s birthday anniversary, and its cost exceeded ten billion and 350 million riyals.
Abu Nishtan indicated that the establishment of the Zakat Authority and its launch of dozens of projects is an outcome of the September 21 revolution, calling for continued cooperation with the Authority by paying Zakat in the framework of cooperation and solidarity to implement more projects that are in the interest of the poor.
He announced that the authority would launch, in the coming days, a project for the economic empowerment of 600 poor youth in the capital Sanaa and 600 others in Hodeida province, in addition to other projects such as releasing the insolvent and debtors, and other social projects.
A song operetta, and shows from the popular folklore, accompanied by folk songs and chants were presented during the ceremony.
