Kidney transplantation operations resumed at Al-Thawra Hospital in Sanaa: Health Minister
SANAA, Oct. 29 (YPA) – The Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Taha al-Mutawakel, on Saturday announced the resumption of transplantation of kidney operations at the Kidney Transplant Center at the Al-Thawra General Hospital Authority in Sanaa.
During the inauguration of a patient’s kidney transplant operation today, Dr. Al-Mutawakel explained that two successful kidney transplants were previously performed on two patients at the end of the year 2019, but the operations were stopped due to the global pandemic, and the lack of medicines for kidney patients, and their unavailability as a result of the aggression and siege.
The Health Minister considered the resumption of kidney transplantation a positive step, confirming that 100 cases have been prepared in the kidney transplant center in the hospital, and the Ministry of Health will work in cooperation with the General Authority for Zakat to bear the costs of kidney transplantation.
