TAIZ, Oct. 26 (YPA) – A faction of Islah militants, led by Ghazwan Al-Mikhlafi,took on Wednesday control of large areas in the center of the city of Taiz, southwest of Yemen.
Local sources said that the gunmen of Al-Mikhlafi, backed by influential military leaders in the Islah party, forced the security campaign to withdraw from the areas of Al-Mushki neighborhood in Al-Rawda area, north of the city.
The sources added that the security campaign failed to achieve its stated goal of arresting “Al-Mikhlafi” after clashes between the two sides resulted in deaths and injuries.
This came two days after the killing of the brother of the Islah leader, Ghazwan Al-Mikhlafi, at the hands of the so-called security campaign.
