Huge explosion hits UAE base at Ataq airport

SHABWA, Oct. 24 (YPA) – A violent explosion rocked on Monday Ataq International Airport in Shabwa province, eastern Yemen, which is used by Emirati forces as a military base.

The explosion was heard inside Ataq Airport, forcing dozens of Emirati forces’ soldiers to leaving, local residents said.

It did not know the reasons for the bombing that believed it was caused by the explosion of weapons stores crowded in the corridors of the airport, or related to the existing conflicts between the Emirati factions in Shabwa, especially as it came in the wake of a series of bombings that hit the oil-rich province, coinciding with the escalation of differences between the Southern Transitional Council factions and Shabwa defense backed by the UAE.
