Killing leader of Islah sparks security tensions in Taiz

TAIZ, Oct. 24 (YPA) – Taiz city, southwest of Yemen, is witnessing unprecedented tension amid a heavy spread of militants of the Saudi-led coalition in the center of Taiz city.

According to local sources on Monday, the tension came after the killing of Suhaib Al-Mikhlafi, one of the leaders of the Islah militia in the city.

The sources reported that Mikhlafi, was killed in the battles taking place in the city for the second day in a row between the Islah factions.

The sources confirmed that the leader, Ghazwan Al-Mikhlafi, directed his gunmen to deploy in the streets of Kilabh and Al-Rawda area in the same city as soon as he received orders from the security campaign set up by the governor of the coalition-backed government in Taiz, Nabil Shamsan.

Al-Makhlafi, one of the most prominent leaders loyal to the coalition, leading dozens of armed gangs under the cover of the Islah-held Taiz Axis forces.

On Sunday, about 12 militants were killed and wounded in severe confrontations erupted in Al-Rawda and Zaid Al-Mushki area between armed groups in central Taiz.
