Hadramout tribes abort STC project

HADRAMOUT, Oct. 18 (YPA) – A number of sheikhs of Hadramout tribes agreed on the independence of the oil-rich province in the decision and self-administration away from the Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s project backed by the UAE.

Sheikhs of Noah’s tribes held a meeting on Tuesday in the city of Mukalla, with Hadramout Alliance headed by Sheikh Amr bin Habrish al-Ali, who is loyal to Saudi Arabia, to discuss their position in support of Hadramout’s independence in decision-making and sovereignty.

They affirmed their position aimed at maintaining security and social peace in the province, while keeping “Hadrami Elite” militia backed by UAE in the province.

The UAE assigned the head of the STC, Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, to visit Hadramout in the coming days and to meet with Sheikh Amr bin Habrish Al-Ali, head of the Hadramout All-Inclusive Conference, and a number of Hadramout references and components to bridge the gap of differences.
The meeting warned the sons of the province not to succumb to chaos and strife by bringing in forces from outside the province and tightening the screws on the “Hadrami elite” that sided with Hadramout.
Politicians believed that the UAE moving to shuffle the cards in Hadramout with the goal of creating local conflicts, through the “STC” militia.
