Kuwait’s Emir issues decree forming new government

KUWAIT, Oct. 16 (YPA) – A royal decree was issued on Sunday to re-form the new Kuwaiti government headed by Sheikh Ahmed Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

The new government included 15 ministers, including ministers who were appointed in the government that was formed on the 5th of October, which was widely rejected by the vast majority of parliamentarians.

This government witnessed a limited amendment to the previous government, as some names that faced parliamentary criticism came out, among them is Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Nasser Muhammad Al-Sabah, who was given the portfolio of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, before it was transferred in today’s formation to Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Among the most prominent names that left the government is Dr. Rana Al-Faris, who reportedly apologized for not participating in the government prior to the decree’s issuance.

The new formation included two women, Amani Suleiman Abdelwahab Bouqmaz, who was appointed as Minister of Public Works and Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, and May Jassim Muhammad Al-Baghli, who was appointed as Minister of Social Affairs and Community Development and Minister of State for Women and Childhood Affairs.
